Cartography Hall
Cartography Hall
Maps and diagrams are among the technical instruments of geography as a discipline. They are used to conduct geographical and climate studies. Regarding the significance of these studies the Cartography Hall was started in April 1971 equipped with the required facilities. The officials of the time prepared topographic and geologic maps of Iran in the following scales among others: 1:50000, 1:20000, 1:100000, 1:200000, 1:25000. Therefore the Department of Geography has one of the richest collections of maps available to be used by the researchers.

Currently it is possible to provide the researchers with the digital versions of this cartographical information. One of the capabilities of this cartography hall is teaching and preparing combined and applicable maps in a variety of areas in geographical studies. Many maps, diagrams, books and articles have been prepared in this workshop one of which was presented in the Eight Conference of Iranian Geographers. This workshop offers invaluable services to undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as other researchers.
The cartography workshop has a number of computers, image to map convertors, cartography cameras, such as Theodolite and Nivo cameras and all of the tools required for mapping and cartography such as simple and lighted cartography tables, topographic maps, tools for geology on different scales, satellite images on different scales, geomorphology maps, maps belonging to the National Oil Company an aerial photographs of Iran on the scale of 50,000.
