1966 Founding the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at undergraduate level

1987 Admitting master students in Geography

1992 Admitting PhD students in Rural and Urban Planning

2010 Founding the Faculty Geographical Sciences and Planning with full-fledged undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as research programmes in varied disciplines of Geography

2012 Moving the building of the faculty to its current location, after being separated from the faculty of Literature and Humanities

2020 Establishing M.Sc. program in GIS and Remote Sensing at the Department of Physical Geography

2020 Establishing B.Sc. program in Tourism Planning at the Department of Rural Planning
